Xobas-4GL has been renamed ProLinga System Builder and has been moved to its own dedicated site at: http://www.prolinga.org. Main reason for this move is to more clearly identify the project as an free source community project and to encourage more people to join, use and further develop ProLinga System Builder.
Xobas Software will remain actively involved in the project and will further provide additional ProLinga services as creating and distributing binary ProLinga packages for various O/S platforms. These packages as well as installation instructions are available at: http://download.xobas.net/prolinga.html. Commercial support as well as ProLinga programming and consultancy are also part of the services Xobas Software provides for ProLinga System Builder. A new mailing list Xobas-announce is availabe and is accepting subscriptions now. Xobas-announce is the mailing list for people interested only in occasional announcements of significant Xobas events and project milestones. This includes announcements about releases. To keep this list a low traffic one, it is moderated.
A Xobas-4GL Introductory Tutorial is now available for developers new to Xobas-4GL. You will need the latest Subversion (CVS) versions of Xobas Projects to have access to all the features described in the document. New Xobas 1.0.3 project releases will be made available shortly containing all these features.
The Reference Manual has also been updated to match the upcoming Xobas 1.0.3 releases.
Xobas-4GL has been ported to Debian GNU/Linux (sarge release). Many GNU/Linux distributions that focus on desktop solutions, use Debian as foundation. Xobas 1.0.2 releases are available for download as "deb" packages from the Xobas Development, Porting and Support Net.
New developer releases 1.0.2 of all Xobas projects that together form Xobas-4GL are now available. We thank those who have tested the product and provided us with valuable feedback.
Xobas-4GL is available for the MS-Windows desktop now as well. The projects that together form the User Interface and 4GL interpreter, have been ported to the Cygwin 1.5 environment. This provides a solution for either mixed MS-Windows and GNU/Linux desktop environments or creates a migration path from the MS-Windows to the GNU/Linux desktop. A sample screenshot of a demonstration application shows a Xobas-4GL screen on a Windows 2000 desktop. This port will be included in the test cycle and will be made available for testing with the next test release.

New developer releases 1.0.1 of all Xobas projects that together form Xobas-4GL are now available. The releases contain many bugfixes and is the next step towards the first stable and open 1.1.0 release.
The Xobas Development, Porting and Support Net is now on-line. Xobas Net is the central meeting place for users and developers of Xobas projects to promote, discuss and encourage the use of Xobas products. It contains links to the various mailing & discussion lists, bugzilla entry-point for entering or tracing of bug reports and you can download the latest source code using Subversion or just browse through it using WebSVN. During the test cycle, you will need a password to enter this page. Please contact support if you want to be part of the test team. Once the first stable Xobas-4GL is released, Xobas Net will be open for all.
